741 Investigators Trained

Since 2014 COMBACTE provides face-to-face as well as e-learning trainings in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) for clinical and laboratory investigators participating in the COMBACTE trials. 741 investigators from 24 countries had so far had GCP trainings. Of those, 330 joined face-to-face meetings, and 411 followed the e-learning GCP course.

COMBACTE conducted face-to-face GCP trainings in Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, Serbia, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, Montenegro (where investigators from Albania, Kosovo, and Macedonia also joined). Next on the list is Spain, and Central Europe (Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic).

EFGCP Collaboration

The trainings are given/organized by CLIN-Net and LAB-Net, in collaboration with the European Forum for Good Clinical Practice (EFGCP). Dr. Ingrid Klingmann, founding member and currently Chairman of the Board of EFGCP, is one of the trainers at the face-to-face GCP trainings: “COMBACTE is a huge opportunity to train a whole layer of investigators in countries where there is really a need for that knowledge, and to get that paid for. This is really something that is very unique and highly appreciated by everybody”. (Interview on GCP with Dr. Klingmann)

GCP Guarantees High Standard

COMBACTE maintains a European network for conducting high-quality clinical research.

The main objective of COMBACTE-NET CLIN-Net is to develop, train and maintain a European network of fully capable and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)-compliant clinical investigation sites, with ample expertise and experience in designing and executing diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic clinical trials in the field of infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance.

Regulatory requirements are similar in all countries. However, not all sites are equally experienced in performing clinical trials related to antibiotic resistance.

The training offers practical guidance to optimize the often-so-difficult recruitment of patients to support the performance of investigators in clinical trials. The two-day face-to-face training consists of plenary sessions and interactive discussions with the audience on current essential regulations.

Future Trainings

In November 2018, COMBACTE will be conducting face-to-face GCP trainings for investigators in Spain (Nov 20) and Central Europe (Nov 26).
