Part of the ANTICIPATE investigators and staff attended the ANTICIPATE Investigators Meeting during the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID) 2017.

The meeting was chaired by COMBACTE’s Scientific Coordinator Marc Bonten. Dr. Annie Ducher (DaVolterra) kicked off the meeting by presenting the clinical development plan of DAV132. After that a general update of the ANTICIPATE study was given. To date 342 patients have been enrolled in the study and 572 screen failures have been recorded. As part of the contingency plan, 4 new sites are being set up. Out of the 34 sites, 24 sites are active.

During his presentation Prof. Dr. Julian de la Torre Cisneros (Reina Sofia University Hospital in Cordoba) emphasized the importance of a highly motivated Principle Investigator (PI) and the need for a dedicated research nurse. Dr. Simin Florescu (Clinical Hospital of Infectious and Tropical Diseases “Dr. Victor Babes”, Bucharest, Romania) talked about recruitment strategies in her hospital, and discussed reasons for screen failures, and shared some lessons learned.

After this the team had a interactive general discussion, during which study experiences were shared.
