ANTICIPATE Study Update Metrics

The ANTICIPATE study started in 2016, with its first subject recruited in the Unikliniek Köln, Germany, in September 2016.

Currently, the study has been initiated in 20 out of 30 sites, of which 6 sites are actively recruiting patients. The final Site Initiation Visits are being planned for February 2017. All sites are expected to recruit patients by the end of February.

Up to 7th of February 2017 a total of 50 patients were included in the study. In order to reach the required sample size of 1,000 subjects by the end of May 2017, the goal is to recruit two patients per week in each activated center.

ANTICIPATE is an observational, epidemiological study involving hospitalized patients undergoing oral or intravenous broad-spectrum antibiotics treatments. It is aiming to determine the incidence of Clostridium difficile infections and to better prevent this severe pathology. The ANTICIPATE study is being conducted in close collaboration with Da Volterra.

This observational study is being conducted with 1000 patients aged over 50. They are recruited in 30 European clinical centers in the Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Spain, Romania and France. Recruited patients will be followed over a three-month period to detect any occurrence of Clostridium difficile infections following antibiotic treatment. The aim is to identify the risk factors for these infections. Establishing for whom the prevention of this pathology will prove the most effective.
