COMBACTE at ICPIC 2017 Geneva

This year members of COMBACTE are participating at the International Conference on Prevention and Infection Control (ICPIC) which takes place in Geneva, Switzerland.

Marlieke de Kraker, Infectious Disease Epidemiologist on Antimicrobial Resistance at HUG, Geneva, Switzerland, will be speaking at the ICPIC about the burden of AMR. She talks about why she enjoys ICPIC:
“What I like about ICPIC is that it provides a unique, international platform for exchange of knowledge on prevention and infection control. It addresses key challenges in the day-to-day practice of infection control and prevention through symposia, but also meet-the-expert sessions and debates. One can informally exchange ideas with key opinion leaders and colleagues with hands-on experience from very different settings as more than 100 different countries are represented. After this conference you always feel invigorated to apply the acquired knowledge and evaluate and improve infection control and prevention practices at one’s own institute”.

Members of the COMBACTE network will be speaking or chairing different sessions at the conference:

Marc Bonten – Scientific Coordinator of the COMBACTE project, and Management Board Member of COMBACTE-NET, MAGNET and CARE;
Yehuda Carmeli – Partner in the COMBACTE-NET and COMBACTE-CARE;
Marlieke de Kraker – Partner in STAT-Net; partner in DRIVE-AB, COMBACTE’s sister project;
Philippe Eggimann – Partner in COMBACTE-MAGNET;
Stephan Harbarth – Work Package Lead of STAT-Net & partner in DRIVE-AB;
Evelina Tacconelli – Work Package Lead of EPI-Net in COMBACTE-MAGNET, and partner in DRIVE-AB;
Ursula Theuretzbacher – Partner in DRIVE-AB, and partner in COMBACTE-MAGNET;
Jean-Francois Timsit – Partner in COMBACTE-NET and CARE.

The program overview can be found here.

ICPIC provides a unique forum for the exchange of knowledge and experience in the prevention of healthcare-associated infection and control of antimicrobial resistance around the world. Though advances in infection control and prevention are being made, antimicrobial resistance persists as a global threat confronting all countries alike. The need to share knowledge and experience remains unchanged. ICPIC will be able to provide the necessary platform for such an exchange once again.
