This year’s ECCMID is attended by over 12,500 participants from 125 countries and our booth was approached by over 200+ people today. Many of the consortium members took this opportunity to align face to face. For instance, in the morning Kerrie Davis from the University of Leeds and Jane Freeman stopped by at the booth and discussed the kick off of the recruitment for COMBACTE-CDI. Other experts who were present during the day from the COMBACTE consortium were Marc Bonten from UMC Utrecht, Herman Goos

sens from the University of Antwerp, Marie-Noelle Bouverne from Da Volterra, Irith Wiegand from AiCuris, Maria Vereschild from Uniklinik Köln, Helen Steel from GSK, Philippe Cleuziat from BioMeriux.

Apart from that, many experts and influencers spoke and chaired various different conferences and key notes. Claudia Recanatini from COMBACTE CLIN-Net, talked about ‘Timing of surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis and risk of surgical site infection during the session’ during the session ‘Surveillance and prevention of surgical site infection’. ANTICIPATE Coordinating Investigator Henri van Werkhoven participated in the showcasing of an ePoster, ‘Systematic review of the methodological quality of studies evaluating antimicrobial stewardship interventions’, and Marlieke de Kraker presented ‘Impact of participation in a surgical site infection surveillance network: results from a large international cohort study’.

During the day, clips for the new COMBACTE video were also taken at the booth. In addition to that, interviews were held to showcase the hard work of the people behind the consortium.

Make sure to visit the COMBACTE booth at number 37 in the following day at ECCMID 2018. Stop by and meet the teams. Share and discuss your work with your COMBACTE colleagues and fellow investigators!
