An Immensely Productive ECCMID 2019

At this year’s ECCMID  a great amount of science and results from the COMBACTE projects was presented. We are delighted to have welcomed close to 300 delegates from 50 countries at our COMBACTE booth. Make sure you check out our photo gallery for impressions from the event!

During the ECCMID Opening Ceremony ESCMID President Dr. Jesús Rodríguez Bano stated that with more than 13,000 attendees from 130 this year at ECCMID, the congress is now the largest international congress in the field of clinical Microbiology and infectious diseases.

It was a real pleasure to see people from our network, as well as new faces interested in what COMBACTE does. A lot has happened during the congress, as important results from COMBACTE were shared in either paper posters, presentations, or oral sessions. From the 5,000 abstracts submitted at ECCMID this year, a COMBACTE-CDI poster (‘Detection of Clostridium difficile infection across whole healthcare economies in Europe: results from COMBACTE-CDI’; Davies et al.) was top-rated poster at ECCMID 2019. Only six such ratings are awarded during the congress. Also, for the first time, COMBACTE and its pan-European clinical and laboratory network presented at the Open Forum ‘Networks for clinical research’. We are extremely proud of all our colleagues and the great results they achieve! Did you miss the COMBACTE abstracts during ECCMID 2019? During the COMBACTE Networking Event on the evening of April 15 great updates and milestones were shared. The event set the ground not only for the latest updates from the consortium. It created the opportunity for the attendees to network, ask questions, or discuss potential collaborations. If you were unable to join, the presentations from the event can be downloaded below.

With more milestones to be achieved in these following months, we are eager to share them and our great science at ECCMID 2020 in Paris, France. See you there!
