COMBACTE Investigators Meeting at SRLF Congress

Between January 11th and 13th 2017, COMBACTE took part in SRFL’s Reanimation 2017 Congress in Paris, France. During the congress, the COMBACTE booth provided information on current and future clinical research projects to emergency physicians, infectiologists and intensive care doctors. Next to that, a breakout session and an Investigator Meeting took place.

Reanimation 2017 is the most important congress in Intensive Care Medicine organized by Société de Réanimation de Langue Française (SRLF) – The French Intensive Care Society (FICS). The SRLF is a French-speaking Congress devoted to the ICUs in France and covers the main themes of the profession, while dealing with the latest innovations.

This was the perfect opportunity for COMBACTE to promote the fundamental ideas of its growing network of 842 hospitals and 556 laboratories to ICU research staff. This while also attracting an audience interested in starting clinical research and learning more about COMBACTE projects. Hospitals that are already part of the COMBACTE network received more information and updates on the progress of the trials.

A breakout session was held during which updates for the SAATELLITE, EVADE and ASPIRE-ICU studies were provided. Professor Chastre (Hôpital de la Salpêtrière) and Professor Dequin (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Tours) presented the SAATELLITE and EVADE studies. Both these studies focus on patients who are at high risk of developing ventilator-associated pneumonia in ICUs. This was followed by the ASPIRE-ICU study presented by Dr. Landais (Centre Hospitalier Le Mans). ASPIRE-ICU focuses on the advanced understanding of Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections amongst ICU patients in Europe. Furthermore the participants had a discussion on issues met during last year and how they were resolved.

Thirty investigators from different hospitals in France (e.g. Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Limoges, CHRU Lille, CHR d’Orléans- Hôpital de la Source, Hôpital Albert Michallon La Tronche, Centre Chirurgical Marie Lannelongue) and Belgium (e.g. Cliniques Universitaires UCL MontGodine) participated and held discussions. These hospitals work in the most efficient way for the enrolment of patients in the SAATELLITE and EVADE studies.
