ASPIRE-ICU Approaching Database Lock

After the inclusion of subject 2000 last October, the ASPIRE-ICU study team is rapidly closing sites.

At the moment, six study sites have been closed and many will follow in the month of February. From all over Europe, samples are currently shipped to the University of Antwerp.

The study team from Antwerp performs an evaluation of completeness and inserts final queries for a study site into the online case report form (database). After all queries have been resolved and the data is considered clean by the monitors, the team at the University of Utrecht closes the site.

The database is planned to be locked early spring 2019. Thereafter, analysis will start and the focus will be on the ASPIRE-ICU main publication. Meanwhile the samples will be shipped to biomarker partners all over Europe to perform analyses to answer secondary endpoint in the study.

The end of the clinical part of the study is near. Finalizing the study is a big challenge for the study teams in Antwerp and Utrecht, but all ingredients are in place to make this study a success.
