Study Update ANTICIPATE

The ANTICIPATE study started in 2016. The first subject was, according to plan, recruited in the Uniklinik Köln, Germany, in September 2016.

As of today, the study has been initiated in 27 of 31 sites, of which 22 sites are actively recruiting patients. The team is currently looking into starting backup sites in France, Romania and Germany. In Romania an extra site has already been initiated. All sites are expected to recruit patients by end of April 2017.

Site initiation status as of March 22, 2017

Up until March 22nd 2017 a total of 211 patients was included. In order to reach the required sample size of 1,000 subjects by the end of May 2017, the goal is to recruit 2 to 3 patients per site per week.

Inclusions per Site

ANTICIPATE is an observational, epidemiological study involving hospitalized patients undergoing oral or intravenous broad-spectrum antibiotics treatments. The study aims to determine the incidence of Clostridium difficile infections and to better prevent this severe pathology. It is being conducted in close collaboration with Da Volterra.

This observational study is being conducted with 1000 patients aged over 50. They are recruited in 30 European clinical centers in the Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Spain, Romania and France. Recruited patients will be followed over a three-month period to detect any occurrence of Clostridium difficile infections following antibiotic treatment. The aim is to identify the risk factors for these infections. Establishing for whom the prevention of this pathology will prove the most effective.
