IDWeek 2021
IDWeek is the joint annual meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA), the HIV Medical Association (HIVMA), the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS), and the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP).
This year’s IDWeek will take place on September 29 – October 3 2021 and will be held virtually. It is a forum for health professionals of varied backgrounds to collaborate, cooperate, and learn from each other’s expertise. With so many common issues and challenges cutting across our four disciplines, IDWeek provides an opportunity to learn from each other’s knowledge, experience and expertise, for the improvement of patient care and public health.
COMBACTE at IDWeek
In 2019 COMBACTE exhibited for the first time at IDWeek in Washington DC, USA, attracting close to 1600 visitors interested in learning more about the consortium. For COMBACTE the presence at IDWeek was extremely important, as it increased the consortium’s reach across the ocean, as well as its global visibility. During this edition results from COMBACTE-NET’s SAATELLITE study were presented by academic lead Dr. Bruno François from CHU Limoges, France, as well as by EFPIA partner Alexey Ruzin from AstraZeneca and by AstraZeneca PK scientist Vadryn Pierre.
In 2020 COMBACTE once again presented science at IDWeek, this time from COMBACTE-NET and COMBACTE-MAGNET. Results from the SAATELLITE and EVADE studies respectively were presented.
This year Prof. Dr. Jesus Rodriguez Bano will present at the virtual IDWeek. Prof. Dr. Jesus Rodriguez Bano (University of Seville / University Hospital Virgen Macarena, Seville) will speak about antimicrobial stewardship during COVID Times. He is Management Board member in CARE, and academic lead in COMBACTE-CARE’s EURECA and COMBACTE-NET’s ARTHR-IS studies.
Presentation is sheduled at the following date and time:
Antimicrobial stewardship in the Pandemic: A Double Challenge
Thursday, September 30, 2021 07:00 AM – 09:00 AM EDT
Also Prof. Dr. Oliver Cornely (University of Cologne/University Hospital of Cologne) will contribute to this edition by co-authering an abstract about Ibrexafungerp Outcomes by Fungal Disease in Patients. Prof. Dr. Cornely is academic partner in COMBACTE-CARE’s REJUVENATE study and is also the VACCELERATE Consortium Coordinator (for which COMBACTE helps establish a transparent site selection procedure through CLIN-Net and provides ‘state-of-the-art’ laboratory expertise through LAB-Net).
Check out this year’s conference program for more information and a full overview of the science that will be presented at IDWeek 2021.
